I've never had the best luck keeping my driving record clean. I seem to get caught all the time - once, on a roadtrip, I got two speeding tickets within 20 minutes of each other. It probably doesn't help that I speed all the time, and roll stop signs like it's my job.
So I shouldn't have been shocked when my Progressive Insurance renewal brought me a little surprise yesterday.
What? Yes, drag racing. I officially have the coolest driving record ever.
A little backstory: one Saturday night a year and a half ago, I pulled out quickly into traffic from a parking meter. There were no cars around, except a cop half a block behind, who was looking for such things. Also, I had had two beers. I wasn't near the legal limit (don't drink and drive, kids), but the cop was pissed that I would dare to drive aggressively in his town, especially after recently consuming 24 ounces of delicious Bud Light. So he gave me a reckless driving ticket. I contested this, and somehow it got changed into something else, which I never got figured out. Until now.
But man, it would have been so much cooler if I had actually been drag racing. My stripped-down '05 Honda Civic would make a great addition to the next Fast & Furious sequel.
